For the first time in history the International Handball Federation (IHF) invited the presidents of FORUM CLUB HANDBALL EEIG (FCH) Tomaz Jersic/Pivovarna Lasko Celje and GROUP CLUB HANDBALL EEIG (GCH) Joan Marin/BM Renovalia Ciudad Real to a meeting with presidents of leading handball nations.
On 17.9.2010 in Basle IHF President Dr. Hassan Moustafa informed that IHF will pay to the clubs for the World Championship (WCH) Sweden 2011 a compensation for release of players to the WCH in the amount of about 1.000.000 Swiss francs.
At the same time the club representatives were informed that IHF will establish an insurance fund of 500.000 Swiss francs in order to compensate clubs in case of player injuries. GB

On 24.8.2010 on occasion of the Toyota-HBL Supercup the foundation of a German Handball Players Union will be announced during a press conference prior to the match between THW Kiel and HSV Hamburg in Munich. Further details to follow. GB

After the FIFA World Cup, currently played in South Africa, the International Football Federation FIFA will pay a compensation of 40 Mio USD to the clubs for release of players to the National Teams.
This amounts to about 1.600 USD ‘per player per day’. The calculation starts two weeks prior to the opening match of the championship.

The President of the German Handball Federation (DHB) Ulrich Strombach set up the following demands in SPORTBILD 4/10:
– Reduction of the number of teams in TOYOTA Handball-Bundesliga
– Reduction of the number of teams in EHF Champions League
– Re-scheduling of World- and European Championships from January to summer
– Abolition of the European Championship in the Olympic years
– A bigger share of the revenues of the International Handball Federations for the National federations
According to Strombach the boycott of World Championships is possible, but not the target. ‘An own world series would be an alternative’. GB

Dear Mr. President, dear HSV Handball Supporters,
on behalf of GROUP CLUB HANDBALL EEIG I want to express our sincerest condolences on the loss of Oleg Veliki.
He was a great fighter and one of the best handball players in the world.
We acknowledge and appreciate the support, HSV Handball in general and the HSV fans in particular gave to Oleg during the last years.
He will always be in the heart of all of us.
